In Funchal, 4 of the 6 hotels we priced charged about the same in July as in February. Outside the city, July cost a median 24% more for the same room, and almost double at Saccharum.

How we checked the prices
- Searches
- 20 hotels across the island, priced on Booking.com on 3 November 2026 for two adults, one room and seven nights in three weeks of 2027. Not signed in, so no member prices.
- Same room
- A hotel only counts if the same room, meals and cancellation terms were on sale in all three weeks; that left 16. Where several rooms qualified, we used the cheapest across the three weeks.
- Limits
- One platform, one day of searching and a hand-picked list of hotels, so this is not an island-wide average. Prices change; check the final rate before booking.
- Our role
- Michael is from Madeira and explains the areas; we have not stayed in these hotels. The photo shows Funchal, not one of the hotels.

How much is a hotel in Madeira per night?
In our sample, the middle price for two adults was €202 a night in February, €249 in May and €272 in July 2027, based on a seven-night stay. February ran from €130 to €469 a night, depending on the hotel.
Are these prices per person or per room?
Per room, for two adults sharing. We took the seven-night total and divided it by seven.
Is Madeira cheaper in winter?
Outside Funchal, yes: July cost a median 24% more than February at the same hotel. In Funchal city, 4 of the 6 hotels we checked charged about the same in both weeks.
Why are some hotels missing from the table?
We only kept hotels where the same room, meals and cancellation terms were on sale in all three weeks. It does not mean the others were full.
